Announcement

So, if you saw my latest entry about the books I'm bringing on vacation, you would know that I'm going to Disney World in a few days. Therefore, I want to let you know that you shouldn't be alarmed. I'll be back with more entries soon!

What Books Am I Bringing On Vacation? (2)

For this entry, there are two vacations taking place. The first vacation is a 3-day camping trip. Although the travel time for this vacation isn't too long, I always need books at hand! What you are probably thinking now is, "Whatever happened to Insurgent?" Don't worry, I haven't ditched it, but it is a fairly thick and heavy book to pack with me. Instead, I have chosen Radiance by Alyson Noel and Shimmer by Alyson Noel. I am probably not going to finish either of these, but you know, 250 pages isn't that bad.

It's almost fall break, therefore, Disney World for me! I'm so excited to go and check it all out. I don't really know what to expect. The only thing I know is that I cannot go without books. Again, Insurgent probably isn't the best idea because of it's largeness, so I will be bringing Dash and Lily's Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan, Maze of Bones by Rick Riordan, and An Abundance of Katharine's by John Green.

A juvenile! What? I know, that is why I'm bringing three books — just in case Maze of Bones doesn't work out. The main reason why I'm trying it in the first place is because I've been wanting to read the 39 clues series for a long time, so I thought I would try it, even though I'm a teen.

I hope you enjoyed this entry! Now let me ask you. What are you reading over your vacation(s)? Also, tips for Disney?

The Alchemyst Book Talk

If you check my blog regularly, then you should know that my current book was The Alchemyst by Micheal Scott. I originally picked up this book because a friend said I should read it. At first I was like, "Ya! Sounds cool," but after a while I found it very slow-paced. I was kind of hoping that it would be more busy and exciting. Unfortunately, after giving it a chance, I thought that I would save the series for later, because I wanted to read Graceling and Divergent, which were sure to be better. Sorry Micheal!

I will most likely be reading this book later though. Be sure to check my Current Book to see!

Making Connections: Extras to my Book Blog

I was just thinking about Extras today, and to anyone who has read it you will know about face ranks. Then I went on my blog and I was like, "Hey! My face rank for this would be like Aya's: 451, 369." Help me out guys! Get me to #3!

I really appreciate all that you do. The support is well used. Thanks!

...Funny how I think of these things.

Matched Book Review

Matched by Allie Condie is a dystopian/romantic novel. In this society, the authorities choose everything for everyone. The 100 poems that you are allowed to read, the 100 paintings you can see, and who you are going to marry. Every child, after their 16th birthday, is invited to a Matching Banquet where they first see who they will be spending the rest of their life with. At least that's the case in normal people, but Cassia is defiantly not normal. She goes to look up her Match's facts, and two faces appear! What is Cassia to do?
This was an okay book, although I'm pretty sure I thought down on it because I read Extras right before this book, (which was amazing and the best book ever) so Matched didn't compare. That being said, there were still a lot of things that this book has to offer. It was a good "beach read", a slow paced novel that was a good break from the fast-paced reads that I have been into lately. The society was also very set-into-stone. I knew what I needed to know about the society, none of the facts changed, and it wasn't too complicated or hard to understand. The ending was also a very good set-up, giving a good head start to the second book, Crossed. A couple downsides to this book is the repeated content. Not only did it repeat events that were already explained in the book before, it was very much like The Giver by Louis Lowry. Although it probably wasn't on purpose, it still could have been more unique, but that doesn't mean that it wasn't good. This book was probably a 3 and a half star out of 5, a good novel for those (over 10 or 11) who like those slower books, or an innocent book with no swears.

Matching Books with Bookmarks

Matching books with bookmarks, it's one of those little things that give me extreme joy. Like sitting on the deck and petting my dog, or vlogging without a camera. Those are the little things that give me that tiny bit happiness to push me through the day. I have decided to share with you some books that I have matched with bookmarks.

Bookmarks:
The first match I have is a leather bookmark I made with Graceling by Kristin Cashore. I chose to do this because they both have earthy colours in them.

The second match I have made is Matched by Allie Condie with this frog bookmark. I did this because the blue and green go good together.

Last but not least, I have Torn by Amanda Hocking. I have paierd this book with this metal angel bookmark. The blue and silver looks delightful with the cover, and the green adds that pop!

I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know if you want me to make more of these.

I cannot IMAGINE what I would do if I found out that my grandmother liked Twilight. It's just wouldn't be right...

6ยบ Challenge

This is another local library challenge. Our task for this one was to pick an actor or actress from a movie that is based on a book, and using their co-stars (and their co-stars co-stars) try to get back to the original actor/actress! I decided to try this one out.
For my challenge I chose Josh Hutcherson who has starred in many movies that are also books. The Hunger Games (as you all probably know) and Cathcing, Journey to the Centre of the Earth, Cirque du Freak, and Zathura are just a few examples.

I chose a co-star from The Hunger Games, Jennifer Lawrence.

Then, I chose co-star Bradley Cooper from Silver Linings.

For Bradley Cooper I chose a co-star from Valentine's Day, Sharlto Copley.

After that I chose Jodie Foster, an actress that Sharlto will be starring with in Elysium.

Then I saw that Jodie starred with Dick Van Patten in Freaky Friday.

I then chose Deborah Winters because she starred with Dick in World in Crisis.

I chose co-star Tess Harper that starred with Winters in Little Girl Lost.

Then I chose Robert Duvall from Tender Mercies.

From The Godfather I then chose Diane Keaton.

Diane Keaton starred in Father of the Bride with Kimberly Williams.

Then, from How to Eat Fried Worms, Kimberly starred with Alexander Gould.

With Alexander Gould in Finding Nemo Allison Janney.

Allison Janney was with Emma Stone in The Help.

Then, Emma Stone was in The Amazing Spider-man with Emma Roberts.

From the new Adult World, Emma will be co-starring John Cusack.

Then John was in 2012 with Oliver Platt.

Both Oliver and Lea Michele were in the film Dorthy of Oz.

While Lea with in Glee Matthew Morrison was to!

Matthew Morrison starred in The Muppets with Bill Cobbs.

Bill Cobbs then starred with Robin Williams in Night at the Meusuem.

And finally, Robin Williams was with Josh Hutcherson in RV.

And Josh Hutcherson was with... just kidding. That was a riot, and a LOT of fun. Try it out!

Making Connections: Matched and Winnie-the-Pooh

If you bothered to look at my current book that I'm reading, you would know that I am currently on the first book of the Matched trilogy - Matched by Ally Condie.

Interesting Fact: I LOVE Winnie-the-Pooh. He grew up with me and I think he is just so cute and sweet.

Just the yesterday I was looking over some quotes of A.A. Milne, the author of Winnie-the-Pooh, and I found myself making connections between the quotes and Matched. Matched is a romance/science-fiction (dystopian), and if you think about it, WTP is quite romantic.

"If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you." ~ A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh.

I thought that this related to Matched very well. I don't want to give anything away, but I will tell you that Cassia, the main character, and a boy are exchanged secret notes and drawings, mostly about each of their separate life-styles. I thought that this quote, as well as many other love quotes of WTP, could very well be passed between the two of them due to their love.

Extras Book Review

The world is turning into a living YouTube. Floating cameras are everywhere, snooping around to find the hottest stories in hopes to have the highest face rank. Unfortunately for 15-year-old Aya Fuse, that's not working out. Having a face rank of 451, 369, Aya and her big, fat nose is an absolute nobody, a complete Extra – an ugly one at that. Not until Aya finds a hidden clique - the Sly Girls - does she finally have a chance at becoming the new celebrity. She can kick a new, groovy story about a group that nobody knows about! What Aya doesn't realize is that kicking this story may turn into more than popularity; in fact, it could trigger the most dangerous, troubling world since Tally Youngblood and the mind-rain...
Extras was a hard-to-put-down novel. Full of action, intrigue, amazing characters and a page-turning plot, I couldn't get an abundant fill. I especially liked how unpredictable it was. No matter how many inferences I made, none of them turned out to be true. I can't find anything that I didn't like about this book, except for the fact that the series has come to an end. This is an absolute must read, the best of the Uglies Series as well as the best series ever!! Oh how I wish that Scott wrote another book! (I wonder what it would be about if he did.) I recommended it to those of 11 and above due to a few kisses, smoking/drinking, partying, and violence. It puts out a great positive message about popularity and self-esteem, includes education values and positive role models, and gets the gears turning in the brain. Excellent book: 5/5.
